SOAP-STUD & BLUE-MOVIE GIRL

These two “blisteringly satirical” short novels are set in an alternative 1990s Hollywood in which stars such as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe (and British bombshell Diana Dors) are still alive and working.

SOAP-STUD covers the early years of Jason Howl, a gorgeous blue-eyed stud from the boondocks who gets into movies via the usual route of advertising, extra work and then a big break on daytime soaps and on into movies. He isn’t much of an actor but his looks carry him a long way – especially after some nude footage appears on the internet. He gets laid a lot but comes to realize he’s looking for true love. Does he find it?

BLUE-MOVIE GIRL is the story of Joylene Duchat, a Southern beauty, one eighth black, the daughter of a trailer tramp and a ‘flasher’ turned televangelist. Introduced to porno by a high-school boyfriend, Joylene deposes the current queen of adult movies and is soon earning big bucks as Pussy-Kat Kane in titles such as Pussy Power (1 thru 8). But, having been the star of high-school plays and pageants, Joylene yearns to be a serious actress. Now calling herself Katharine Kane, she gets her first break playing Nell Gwynne in a sex-romp British comedy with a cast of luminaries.  What will Katy do next?

This is me on the casting couch outside the Kodak building in LA in 2007. I still dream of walking down that red carpet with a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in my hand!

KATHARINE KANE’s path will cross with JASON HOWL’s when desperate studio head Isaac Hunt casts them in his remake of one of the all-time classic movies from Hollywood’s Golden Age, the 1940s. HOWL AND THE PUSSY-KAT, the concluding part of my Hollywood Trilogy will (hopefully) be published later this year. Watch this space!
